Using WLM with Yahoo and Tiscali

I have read other posts on this issue but believe that I do not need to be a
Yahoo Mail plus user as I have a .co.uk address. And in any case WM works
fine!

I downloaded WLM yesterday and created a Live.com email address. WLM copied
across my Yahoo and Tiscali email account settings from WM. WM still works!!
But WLM does not connect. Nor can I connect to my Live.com address through
the WLM page top right icon. Does anyone know what the settings should be

The error messages are 0x800CCCoE and 0x80048820. I have treid changing
port numbers from 25/110 to 587/465+995 but WLM still does not connect. I
have also reinputted manually the Yahoo/Tiscali address details - the
accounts will not configure automatically

I am pretty sure it is not a Vista computer connection problem as all mail
programs work ok - WM, Outlook, Yahoo Mail and Tiscali

Any advice welcome

Can't you get your yahoo mail just by using http rather than pop or SMTP,
much the same as setting up a connection to a windows live email account?

WLM, doesn't handle Yahoo non pop accounts. It is preconfigured to setup the Yahoo pop/smtp server when a Yahoo address is used to create an account.

Upon setting up a Yahoo Account in WLM one first sees this message


If the account is not pop3 capable, it will fail since it uses the pop/smtp settings.

In Canada(and possibly other locations) pop3 is available without added cost($20/yr in U.S.), thus if the default pop3/smtp servers that WLM uses are different(at least for Canada they aren't)

one might be required, if a suffix is necessary for another country and where pop3 is available free of charge, to modify the server setting.

No. yahoo.co.uk is POP not HTTP. In USA you pay for a plus acct thats POP
normal Yahoo mail is web based. I believe WLM does not now support HTTP?

Please note I have no probs receiving all mail in WM; I just cant understnad
why there is no connectivity for accts in WLM given that all settings were
automatically transferred from WM and I have also manually inputted them
again. I cant even sign in to my Live acct from the icon on the home page

If the date and time on your computer are not correct, it may cause an error
0x80048820. Since you're using the web interface to post, we can't see what
time your computer says you're posting.
