Windows Live Mail cannot access Hotmail messages

I run windows Live Mail under Vista Ultimate on a notebook with ample capacity.
I cannot access the messages from my Hotmail account when loggind onto Live
Mail. This is the one I used to sign in.
Yet my hotmail account works perfectly well when I access it with Windows
Live Hotmail.
I suspect that Live mail does not support the same variety of character for
the password as Windows Live Hotmail does. My pass word includes some non
alphanumeric characters. I am not sure but I would like to know why my
hotmail account which is registered as a live ID works with Live hotmail but
does not with Live mail.

for how to create a password. If yours works with Hotmail, then that's not
likely to be your problem. Please post the entire error message you get when
you try to access your mail in WLMail.

The sign-in name you entered doesn't exist, or your password is incorrect.
This is the message I get in Live mail.
but in Live Hotmail no problem, same ID, same password.
Why ???

I've just re-read your messages and realize that I may have misunderstood

thought this meant that you had signed in to Windows Live using a Hotmail
address as Live ID, but that no messages were downloaded when you tried to
access the Hotmail account. The error you mention in your second posting
indicates that you were not able to sign in, so I can't quite understand
what you mean when you say "when loggind onto Live Mail".

First, please note that you do not have to sign in to use WLMail. Signing in
has nothing to do with receiving or sending mail. Click the Help question
mark on the toolbar and read about signing in.

Second, if you have set up your Hotmail account properly in WLMail, but it
fails to send or receive messages, then an error message should be generated
explaining why. Until we see that message, I am not sure how to help
further.
