Peter, if msnews is your default news server (it looks from your headers as
if it might not be), then
news:70DB1923-D98D-49E6-A39D-DA08B988CE4A@xxxxxx will give you food
for thought on readability. I don't have Vista, but I'm told that you can
adjust the dpi by right-clicking the Desktop | Personalize | Adjust font
size (DPI) - it's on the left of the Personalize menu, and you'll need
Administrator credentials. (Thanks, RC). This is a fairly invasive
alteration, so proceed with caution. I must say, though, that these old
tired eyes are much happier now.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, and find it very strange that a company
that has prided itself on making its products accessible should take a step
backwards in the design of this in many respects admirable application.
Perhaps, as a parting gesture, you could use Help menu > Send Feedback (web)
to make your concerns known. The more people that grumble, the more likely
MS are to take notice and do something about things like this.
