Messages stuck in All news

I have three messages apparently stuck in All news, unread messages in
Windows Live Mail Desktop Version 2008 (Build 12.0.1606). One was sent by
me a month ago, two others were sent by other users. Size, subject, sender,
date, etc. are listed correctly, but when I try to open one of the messages
"! Windows Live Mail--There was an error opening this message. An error has
occurred." Properties says "The properties of this message cannot be
displayed." Marking the messages as read fails to mark them as read, so I
keep seeing them when I open All news. They do not appear in the actual
newsgroups where posted.

Any ideas?

Saludos cordiales,

Earle

Re: Messages stuck in All news

I would suggest rebuilding your Quick views by deleting - with WLMail
closed - the registry value SearchFolderVersion at
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. It looks like there's some
discrepancy between messages the MessageStore thinks you have and the ones
you actually have. Restarting WLMail will take a little longer while the
Quick view database is rebuilt.

Re: Messages stuck in All news

Earle,
Nothing to add to the solution beyond Noel's response..just an fyi..No 'Dekstop' in the nomenclature for Version 2008 (Build
12.0.1606). Desktop was the beta name, and dropped at final release(Nov 2007).

Re: Messages stuck in All news

Good of you to say so, Earle. All too often someone posts here with a
problem and someone suggests a solution. If it doesn't work, we soon hear
about it, but far too often there's no response at all and we never know
whether the solution was successful or not.

You can avoid this problem with Quick views in the future by not deleting
any folder under Storage folders, even though it's empty, and similarly with
Feeds folders and Newsgroup accounts. It's an old bug that we are confident
will be fixed in the first update...

Re: Messages stuck in All news

Hi, Winston.

Nothing to add except..."Desktop" was dropped from the name of the beta even
earlier, in May 2007. But someone else will have to explain why it is
STILL in the name of this newsgroup. :^{

Re: Messages stuck in All news

You are correct R.C. I tend to associate anything WLM prior to RTM as Desktop when in fact later beta versions were termed as
'Windows Live Mail - Beta'.
