vista wordpad ....no spellcheck???

My daughter has just completed a huge amount of wordpad docs and we have just realised there appears to be no spellcheck!!!!!!!

There is one on the E-mail but I can't find a thing on wordpad!

Yeah she could do it manually but surely this is a v.v. basic tool?

Any suggestions? Thanks

Unless you want to be ignored turn off your caps lock and do not use
multiple exclamation marks. It is considered shouting and rude.

Download and install OpenOffice, the open source (free) office suite.
www.openoffice.org. If you haven't done so already save the WordPad docs in
the Rich Text format (rtf). Open them with OpenOffice Writer.

Re: vista wordpad ....no spellcheck???

er.....such a pleasant hello.I am well aware of caps lock and it wasn't on , I typed wrong icon I had wanted bold not capitals.I have only had a computer for 6 weeks so just learning.I have no gripe with you informing me of forum rules but maybe you also appear rude with your 'opening' scentence.I would consider it more appropriate and less rude that your advice is contained at the end of the post.

Thanks for reply and advice.

Re: vista wordpad ....no spellcheck???

Yes, Wordpad is a very basic editor. I'm assuming you don't have Word, or
Works Word Processor?

She could open the file in Wordpad, select all the text (Ctrl-A), copy it
(Ctrl-C).
Start a new email message in WLM, paste the text (Ctrl-V) and run the
spellcheck.
Then copy & paste it back to Wordpad. You may lose any formatting, though.

Or, you could download OpenOffice.org, and use their Open Office Writer. It
has spell check, it should open her current Wordpad file, and it's FREE.

You may enjoy the freeware version of Jarte - a very well designed word
processor based on the Wordpad engine.
Stable, functional, has spell checking and many other handy features...
