Please check and ensure that you only have one mail account named 'orange'?

Orange internet does NOT work on Port 587!!! it needs to be 25.

Re: unable to send but can recieve

Hi sorry Have tried both 25 and the several times suggested 587 cut and
pasted a 587 by mistake but it is the only element in the error message that
ever changes.

Re: unable to send but can recieve

I still see SMTP in upper case after 'Server:'. Have you changed it to
lower case in the settings? My system provider doesn't care but I've run
into a couple that did.

Re: unable to send but can recieve

Strange, that server does not respond to a telnet connection, whether
port 25 or port 587.

Re: unable to send but can recieve

....Nor a ping but that's not unusual, most are blocked anyway. maybe it's
just down. I can't seem to find a Service status page for this provider
either.

Re: unable to send but can recieve

One thing you might try is to make sure of is that you even have an account
set up. Can you access it from WEBmail and see if it's set up? Also, I
know you've been over this. But there are two security issues that often
get confused. Acutally one is security and the other is authentication. The
setup for your provider, if I remember, says turn both off. You might try
toggling each to see if you get a different result. Failing that, you might
just delete the entire account from Windows Mail and reload it.

SMTP in upper case is still curious. ??
