Messages disappearing

Not been using Windows Live Mail for long.
When using Outlook Express messages stayed
visible until i ticked 'Catch up' under Edit.

In Live Mail immediately I look at something else and
leave the newsgroup, the messages disappear.
I currently have ticked in 'View', Current view,
Hide read messages and Group by conversation.

Can anyone please advise which settings in View
(or otherwise) I should change to ensure messages
remain visible until I click 'Catch up'? I seem to have
tried various settings but not succeeded yet.

Thanks for any help

Re: Messages disappearing

Hi, BlueBean.

UNcheck "Hide read messages". But that won't work in Quick views | Unread
e-mail.

So...look in the location where that message really is.

Quick views | Unread e-mail shows the unread mail - until we read it - no
matter which Inbox it is really in. And it keeps showing that message until
we leave Unread e-mail - to read newsgroups, for instance. When we return
to Unread e-mail after reading the news, that email message is no longer
unread, so it is no longer in Unread e-mail. But it is still in the proper
Inbox.

So look in the Inbox for the Mail Account that received that message. It
should still be there, but now it will be marked Read, so it won't be
highlighted and you may have to find it by subject or sender or search.

Re: Messages disappearing

Instead of "Hide Read Messages" use "Show All Messages".

Someone else may want to comment on the Catch-up usage.
Seems like you would lose some unread messages that way.

Re: Messages disappearing

Tools, Options, Read tab, uncheck Mark all messages read when exiting a
newsgroup.

To mark all messages in a selected newsgroup as read, including messages not
yet downloaded, select the newsgroup in the Folders list. On the Edit menu,
click Catch Up.
If you want to mark all messages as read, Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + Q. This
does not affect the messages on the server.

Re: Messages disappearing

I guess that you missed "leave the newsgroup'?
