Problem sending bulk email in WLM

Using WLM to send an email to a block of 100 customer addresses takes between
13 -24 minutes whereas using my XP machine it was instantaneous. Same Norton
settings, same FIOS connection (15mb). Regular email sending is not
affected, only the block of 100. Is something in WLM slowing it down? Any
ideas?

One possibility: see under Tools > Accounts whether any directory service is
set to check addresses.
