quick view in mewsgroups

I am getting 66 messages shown as unread in the quick view for all messages
in "all News" .
When I look at the individual newsgroups all messages are read. Any way to
clear this error without uninstalling and reinstalling?
These messages are all older 3-4 weeks old.

thank you for your help.

This often means the messages aren't downloaded yet. Look for an option
to delete messages that haven't been downloaded, or if you prefer, an option
to try harder to download them.

Re: quick view in newsgroups

The Quick views will break in the current version of WLMail (12.0.1606) if any folder is deleted (in an Account or under Storage folders), if a Feed is deleted, or if one un-subscribes to a Newsgroup.

Your problem appears to be due to a combination of a broken Quick views and you having possibly deleted some unread news posts, or having unsubscribed to a newsgroup which contained the unread posts.

Repairing the Quick views should correct the problem (until they break again).

To repair the broken Quick views, delete the registry Value "SearchFolderVersion" under the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. This will cause WLMail to rebuild its Quick view data store when it is next started.

Re: quick view in mewsgroups

It's possible that Quick Views message count is corrupt.

Close WLM
Open Regedit(Start/Run/Regedit)
In the left hand pane
Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\
In the right hand pane 'Name' column
Delete the entry 'SearchFolderVersion'
Open WLM
The registry key will be recreated and WLM will poll for unread messages

A couple of times the count went a little off on me and when I clicked on
the folder under Quick Views, the situation corrected itself.
