| Guest | Sorry but WIndows Live Mail is not for me I deal with computers for my job and do tech support for a small ISP. I figured that I would see what all the fuss was with Windows Live Mail. Well I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail on XP Pro and thankfully only imported two of may accounts. I say thankfully because the application started to download all of my email from my Gmail account as well as importing messages from a POP based account. During the installation Windows Live Mail decided that the Menu Bar was not a necessity to new users of the application so that it conveniently hide the File View Tools etc from view. The result was that all of the email from my Gmail account which was tagged wound up in my Inbox or classified as spam. I eventually discovered , thorough this newsgroup, that Windows Live Mail indeed does have a menu bar! I really feel that novice users of the application should not become frustrated or forced to hunt around trying to find the menu bar let alone trying to find this newsgroup. I then tried creating filters so that the thousands of messages that Windows Live Mail retrieved from my Gmail account could be filed into appropriate folders without having to drag each of messages manually into the appropriate folders. It doesn't look to good for using filters as they are apparently only applied when the mail is processed as it is being downloaded and not after the fact. |

| Guest | Re: Sorry but WIndows Live Mail is not for me Message rules can indeed be applied after the fact. Go to Tools/Message Rules/Mail - Click cancel as you do not wish to create a new mail rule at this point. Another window appears and you can then apply any/all message rules to a particular account. I'm sorry that you don't like WLM. It's not everyone's cup of tea. Colin Brown WL MVP "Snowbound" <Snowbound@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:AFFEBB43-9039-40AF-9E67-7216F120D615@xxxxxx
