| | Spelling Other Than The American Way Any plans to add support for spelling/dictionaries other than English US? I have Word installed, I have the Canadian dictionary installed, why can't I use it? :-) Also, am I missing something or is there no way to create distribution lists? | | Re: Spelling Other Than The American Way No, the WLM spell checker is way more sophisticated, in that it has real time spell checking like Outlook/Word, and also auto-correct, neither of which are in Windows Mail. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Earle Horton" <0123456@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ulqka5qmIHA.464@xxxxxx Quote: > The spell checker is the same, isn't it? > > Earle > > "Ron Sommer" <rsommer@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:eCF$hxqmIHA.3780@xxxxxx Quote: >> You posted using Windows Mail. >> Is your question for Windows Mail? >> This newsgroup is for Windows Live Mail. >> -- >> Ronald Sommer >> >> "Jason Dunn" <www@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:FAB5FB86-04A7-4491-A03A-F28112D31D86@xxxxxx Quote: >>> Any plans to add support for spelling/dictionaries other than English US? >>> I have Word installed, I have the Canadian dictionary installed, why >>> can't I use it? :-) >>> >>> Also, am I missing something or is there no way to create distribution >>> lists? >>> >>> Jason Dunn >>> www.digitalhomethoughts.com |

| | Re: Spelling Other Than The American Way Also, Windows Live Mail already provides spelling options for some varieties of English other than American English, but they are hidden and require less than obvious efforts to find. Windows Mail but I use Windows Live Mail on every other computer beyond my main workstation, so the question was legitimate. Those two product names being so similar must give you fits. ;-) Jason Dunn www.digitalhomethoughts.com |

If you'd prefer Canadian to British, change 1033 to 4105. 2. Close down WLMail. 3. Use Windows Explorer (or My Computer) to find a folder called Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2 in your Program files folder. 4. In there should be a file called spell.ini. In XP, right-click on it and select Open with. Find Notepad in the list of options, click on it and then on OK. The file will open; change 1033 to 2057, then File > Exit. When you are asked whether you want to save the changes, click Yes. In Vista, click start and type notepad. When the list opens, right-click notepad and select "Run As Administrator". Then select File > Open, find the spell.ini file as above and amend it. 5. Restart WLMail and see if your spell check is working. -- Noel |
