Vista - set WML or Outlook as default email client

How do I set Windows Live Email or Outlook ( Express 6 ) as default
email client ?
Currently WLE is the default email client.

The method of Setting the default e-mail program is slightly different between XP and Vista.

To set Windows Live Mail as default:

Ensure Windows Live Mail is set as the default e-mail program in all the relevant places as follows:

Firstly, Microsoft Outlook can silently steal some of the the e-mail defaults when you open it, so if you have Outlook installed, uncheck the option: "Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar" at Tools->Options...->Other [tab] in Outlook.

In Vista, apart from making WLMail the default Mail and News handler at WLMail's Tools->options...->General [tab], also set all its defaults through: Start Orb->Control Panel->Internet Options->Programs [tab]->Set programs [button]->Set your default programs->Windows Live Mail, and Windows Live Mail (news).

Also, follow that up by going to: Start Orb->Control Panel->Internet Options->Programs [tab]->Set programs [button]->Set program access and computer defaults->Custom, and check "Windows Live Mail" under "Choose a default e-mail program :"

In XP, apart from making WLMail the default Mail and News handler at WLMail's Tools->options...->General [tab], also set all its defaults through: Start->Control Panel->Internet Options->Programs [tab].

Also, follow that up by going to: Start->Set Program Access and Defaults->Custom, and check "Windows Live Mail" under "Choose a default e-mail program :"

You can work out how to set Microsoft Outlook as the default e-mail program from the above method.

on whether you're using XP or Vista.

Any idea why? Encoding? There's no 'No archive' flag that I can see.

You must be itching to try out Vista now that Vista SP1 is available.

Ah well, the longer you hold out for a larger hard drive, the more Gigabytes you can get for the price.

My old laptop could not handle Vista (it could barely handle XP), so I had to get a new one, which has two 320 GB hard drives in it.

My XP machine is now relegated to the test bench (good riddance - Vista with SP1 rocks!... except for the unfixed long file name boundary bug, and the 'Windows live Mail' as Hotmail misnomer inside IE7's hmmapi.dll).

default mail program...has this ever happened before? how do we fix this
issue...

my wife and i email our busy outlook calendar updates to each other, and now
we cant send emails from outlook 2003...which means we cant coordinate our
calendars very well...she has to seperately, manually, update her office
calendar that is offline...

i want to get this primary issue resolved and be able to share our calendars
as they are updated...is there a way we can share our outlook calendars
easier without going to a office server based program?
