| | newsgroup messages won't delete When I subscribe to this newsgroup 44 old messages appear under "All News" but not under this newsgroup heading. When I look at them they have the message could not be displayed and I cannot delete them. When I unsubscribe from this newsgroup they go away. I then went to the folder in local settings and deleted any files that related to that newsgroup but still when I subscribed to it they came back. Any ideas. Thanks, David |

| | Re: newsgroup messages won't delete The Quick views will break in the current version of WLMail (12.0.1606) if any folder is deleted (in an Account or under Storage folders), if a Feed is deleted, or if one un-subscribes to a Newsgroup. Your problem appears to be due to a combination of a broken Quick views and you having deleted some unread news posts, or having unsubscribed to a newsgroup which contained the unread posts. Repairing the Quick views should correct the problem (until they break again). To repair the broken Quick views, delete the registry Value "SearchFolderVersion" under the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. This will cause WLMail to rebuild its Quick view data store when it is next started. To prevent this problem you are experiencing, I have found that it is best to mark any messages as read before deleting them or unsubscribing from a newsgroup, since those unread ghost messages are likely to reappear next time your Quick views break. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "David Baughan" <davidbaughan@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:CC00B2BF-FECB-416A-9550-820C3274F3BF@xxxxxx Quote: > When I subscribe to this newsgroup 44 old messages appear under "All News" > but not under this newsgroup heading. > When I look at them they have the message could not be displayed and I > cannot delete them. > When I unsubscribe from this newsgroup they go away. I accidentally deleted large a news account, and then tried to recover by cancelling the delete process. I only wanted news in WLM for 30 minutes while I checked why I was not able to post to a new USP account. That's sorted but WLM has a bucket load of .....
