problem sending mail from Windows Live account to AOL

Hi,
I've been having problems sending mail from my Live ID using the Windows
Live Mail client to a friend who uses an AOL email account (trying to get
her to open a Live account to make things easier).
My Live ID is the default ID for the client but I also have BT and Yahoo
email accounts loaded too which use my ISP's SMTP server for outgoing mail.

My friend on AOL can send email to my Live account, but she can't recieve my
email from my Live ID even if it is a reply to her message from AOL.
She's sure that my Live emails aren't going into her spam box and my Live
address is the default in her address book.
I can however send emails to her AOL account (even forward the failed Live
emails) from another account such as BT which is using my ISP's SMTP without
any problem.

To summarise, I'm wondering if AOL are blocking mail from Windows Live or if
the problem could be my end. I can send Live emails to other hosts such as
Yahoo or Gmail without any problems.

Windows Live Hotmail through Windows Live Mail. A 'msn.com' account to an
'aol.com' account. This message made it through, so the block is not
universal. May be confined to specific server clusters, or an end user
problem.

You have two alternate email accounts which work getting email out to your
friend; why badger them about changing email address?

Re: problem sending mail from Windows Live account to AOL

Until someone comes along who knows how AOL works, I would ask a couple of
questions:
(1) Which mail client is your friend using? Any additional spam filter? Any
chance that your Live address has found its way into a blocked senders list?
WLMail checks safe senders first, then blocked; other clients may behave
differently.
(2) Have you tried sending the same message to your friend and yourself,
then examining the headers? Hotmail uses SID to authenticate the originator,
and if all is well messages from you should include the two headers
X-SID-PRA: Not <notavailable@xxxxxx>
X-SID-Result: Pass
which AOL should then honour.
(3) What do AOL support say?
(4) (just to be certain) You get no non-delivery report? Not even in your
spam filter? If you do, compare it against the list at
http://postmaster.aol.com/errors/

There is plenty of stuff to read on that postmaster site.
