Get a new Hotmail account, and don't give anybody the password for any
    reason.

Your ex could have already changed your secret question anyway, if he is
using the account. If this is a free Hotmail account you don't really have
any recourse through Hotmail. You could take the creep to small claims
court if you have enough supporting evidence, such as copies of old emails,
that it is your account. If he is seriously interested in harassing you by
this measure, then taking him to court might not be such a good idea. He
could use it as a platform to tell everybody about all the horrible things
you have done to him. You could call a lawyer for advice. It all depends
on the value of the account for you, and what you think your ex might do.
Is he going to impersonate you and get you into trouble in some way? Do you
think that this could become a police matter? Could it become a matter of
identity theft? Are there emails in online storage with sensitive
information such as account numbers and balances, other passwords? Maybe a
call from a police detective would straighten this guy out.

If it is a paid account then you use a credit card and they have your name
or other identifying information on file. You could call Customer Support
in that case and get everything straightened out.

The secret question is supposed to be something that you remember without
any trouble, like the city your mother was born in.

    Cheers,

    Earle

    Hi Stephanie

You absolutely DO have a recourse for this situation. Please go to
http://support.live.com, select Windows Live ID, and then Account
Hacked/Hijacked. Our agents will then be able to validate your identity and
regain your account for you. On the other note, speaking to your local law
enforcement agency is advised if you consider this a threatening or
    harassing situation.
