| | arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? Hello, This is probably right there but I'm missing it. I had been using outlook express to view my hotmail account which I post to in various newsgroups and forums. In outlook express, I see my local folders, then my hotmail folders and then the newsgroups I use on a regular basis. I see my local folders (which I don't use) along with the newgroups I read in one view but can't figure out how to add hotmail to that view. I can flip between views and see my hotmail in one and the newsgroups in another but I can't seem to figure out how to get both in the same view. Thanks |

| | Re: arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? You can't get email folders and newsgroups in the same view mode. As a workaround, you should be able to see email in Quick Views while in the newsgroup mode. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "boe" <boe_d@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23Y6Pf9%23oIHA.3860@xxxxxx Quote: > Hello, > > This is probably right there but I'm missing it. | | Re: arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? Dang! I hate when they come out with a new app or OS but remove features available in previous versions. Thanks for your help. I wonder if anyone at MS ever thought - gee my old car had AC or electric windows and they don't offer that feature any more in the new model - but I'm OK with that because it is a new version Seems to be more and morethings from MS don't have the same features as previous versions. | | Re: arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? Nahh - but i would really appreciate it if MS thought about their customers - e.g. if you had a gui management interface for an OS or mail server - put it in the next one - don't try and convince me using DOS is a step forward in management - you can have DOS commands but don't take away the GUI. Don't have an up folder icon in one OS and take it away in the next. Don't have a simple right click to get to some functions and take it away in the next OS. LAZY programming if you ask me. A lack of decent testing or LISTENING to the testers. Just my opinion of course. | | Re: arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? I imagine the developers came out with the segregated view modes when they noticed how 'busy' the folder list pane was with all those account folders! The amount of scrolling you'd have to do in that left pane would have been horrendous. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "boe" <boe_d@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OAd6NFBpIHA.1952@xxxxxx Quote: > Dang! | | Re: arranging the layout of hotmail in my live mail? Adding segregated view folders messed up many things, including the ability to use the program on 800 x 600 screens. In the old days one could get Microsoft to recover from such blunders and at least make the new feature something you can get rid of. These days it seems hopeless even to bother participating in the beta test periods and giving feedback. It sounds like Thunderbird 2 is now mature enough to be a reasonable alternative. The beta of Thunderbird 3 is expected in the summer. That may be a good chance to switch over. Almost all of my favorite Microsoft programs have now been discontinued or ruined in the past few years. It is painful to watch what is being done to a once great company.
