Sending mail in Windows Mail on Vista 32-bit

Nearly every time I send an E-mail using Windows Mail, it won't send and gies
this error report:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server:
'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F.
I have a wireless connection to the internet.
I have changed a setting to log in:
Tools / Accounts / Properties / Servers / Outgoing Mail Server : Settings.
I have changed this to: Log on Using ......
Is still reluctant to send mail. It will eventually send, but this could be
anything up to an hour after writing the mail.
Any help for this?

Not using Norton or McAfee AV, are you? If so, that's undoubtedly your
problem.

Click on Properties for the account and select the Server tab. Under
the "Outgoing Mail Server" section do you have a checkmark in the box next
to "My Server requires authentication"? If not, you must put a checkmark in
this box.

Oops, sorry. Just noticed you're posting about Windows Mail. This newsgroup
deals with Windows *Live* Mail, a different animal altogether. Although what
I wrote may well still apply, you'd better ask in the right forum:

Re: Sending mail in Windows Mail on Vista 32-bit

Do not use the setting "Log on using..."

Unexpected termination of the connection is often caused by your
antivirus. Make sure you disable its mail scanning feature.
