recognizing URLs in draft posts

When typing or pasting a URL into a post it should change
font colour to blue and be underlined, but something in my
settings (hopefully) isn't recognizing URLs, recognizing them
instead as spelling errors. Once posted the URLs are blue
and underlined, fortunately. Are my settings wrong, or is this
a known bug?

Re: recognizing URLs in draft posts

If I include a URL in a post or mail message, I hit Ctrl+S; the unread count
in my All drafts Quick view goes to 1; a click there and the message I just
saved appears in the Preview pane. If the URL is properly formed, it looks
like one (although I don't know of any standard that says that URLs should
be underlined and blue). I click on it just to check - if all is well,
Alt+Tab back to my compose window and hit Send. Quick and easy, but possibly
different from what other users are used to. I haven't found a way to
exclude URLs from spell checking, which may not be a bad thing, knowing my
typing skills.

Re: recognizing URLs in draft posts

It appears underlined when composing in Rich Text(HTML) and only if the url is followed by carriage return.
Rich Text can be toggled on/off(WLM/Format) in the message composition window for a new message or draft message.

Note:
- Messages saved or toggled back to Plain Text do not retain the underline if the message is later reopened (I.e. A toggle to Rich
Text and another carriage return is necessary)
- It does retain the underline
a. if composed in plain text or Rich Text when viewing the message in the Reading pane
b. if composed and saved(drafts) in Rich Text and later opened

Re: recognizing URLs in draft posts

So, it's a small matter of procedure, then, and there's nothing
wrong with my settings or a known bug to worry over - great.
Thanks for your advice. I'm sure I'll get used to it fairly quickly.

Re: recognizing URLs in draft posts

Thanks for the heads up on that. Obviously, because most newsgroups
accept only a Plain Text format, I'll keep that setting as the default
setting and rest assured knowing that when my posts reach the group
I'm sending them to, any URLs I've included in them will appear as they
should, even though they look like a spelling mistake while in draft.
