WLM not as responsive as OE

In OE, when I would click on my Inbox folder or any folder (for my Hotmail
account), the messages would automatically download from my Hotmail to my
OE. However, in WLM, clicking on a folder does nothing. I have to manually
go to Send/Receive and use that to synchronize my account. Even then, I have
to do it at least twice in order for WLM to start downloading messages from
my Hotmail account. When will this issue be fixed?

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

You do not mention the setting in WLM, Tools menu, Accounts, Properties of
mail account, checkbox for 'include this account when.."

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

Shouldn't matter. New message in OE are downloaded when
entering an IMAP folder.

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

The timed sync function is what you basically have to use now. Set it for a
low number like 1 minute.
You've got to remember that this isn't OE. OE is a dead product, same as
Window Mail. WLM is the only product out of the three that MSFT will
continue to develop for.
There are shortcomings in the current release, yes, as there was with OEs
first release all those years ago. Unfortunately I don't have an exact
answer as to when the next release of WLM will be but I would expect there
to be another version when MSFT releases Windows Live Wave 3 later this
year.

What happens if you press F5 (Refresh) instead?

If you still have access to that account through OE
it could be informative to compare troubleshooting logs
(HTTP.log) of the same scenario on both clients.

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

Okay, one setting I found was to use the Send and Receive messages at
startup under Tools > Options > General.

And then I guess I can set the Check for new messages every 1 minute,
correct? Is that what you mean about the timed sync function?

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

It appears F5 checks every e-mail account I have, which is not what I want
because I liked the old OE behavior of clicking into a folder and it
auto-retrieving new mail; but F5 is useful.

Re: WLM not as responsive as OE

1 minute could be checking too often.
5 or 10 minutes might work better.
