Can't import messages into Windows Live Mail

Before reinstalling my operating system I exported all of my messages. After
reinstallation I tried importing those messages back into WLM and it seemed
to be working, but when it finished, the messages were nowhere to be found.
All my inboxes are empty. I tried a few times, and it's creating Imported
Folders under Storage Folders, but there are still no messages.

All email messages were originally from Outlook Express. I exported them
from Windows Live Mail after moving them there because Outlook Express
wouldn't export properly for some reason.

My main concern is that the messages may not have been exported from WLM
properly, as I only seem to have .fol files saved.

Can anyone help me understand what's happened? Have I lost all my emails?

I didnt export messages like the previous post Im afraid to try it. I just
installed WLM and it took three tries before my computer finally took it.
Anyway I had a lot of email in outlook express at the time and some of it
important receipts I was going to print when needed. I'm glad I didnt remove
outlook express yet because some of the folders received some of my emails
into WLM but not the important ones. Does anyone know how I can try to
re-sync the folders to WLM from outlook express. I admit Im a little new to
this, the setup is similar to outlook express I was happy with it I wanted
to know this program before it replaced outlook.

Im open to any ideas thanks.

Sadly Chris, I think your 'main concern' is the reality.

I have no clues for you as to why your export attempt in WLMail failed. Having reinstalled your OS, maybe it will export correctly now. There should be plenty of .eml files along with the .fol files in the subfolders of your export folder.

In any case, have a look in the 'Imported items' folder (within the 'Storage Folders' folder) in your WLMail Message Store for the missing messages.

To find the location of your message store, go Tools->Options...->Advanced [tab]->Maintenance->Store Folder (the default location is a hidden folder).
