If I press de cancel button when I’m entering in Windows live mail I can

Is that normal?

Yes. The password is only for signing in to a Windows Live account. If you
cancel, you don't sign in to Windows Live.

"Windows Live" and "Windows Live Hotmail" are not entirely the same thing.
"Windows Live" is a larger set of services, and Windows Live Mail will sign
in to those. I have three Windows Live Hotmail accounts in WLM. They all
have different logins. When Windows Live Mail opens, it signs me in to just
one Windows Live profile; but I can still log in to each Hotmail account
from that single profile.

Re: Cancel Button.

Try this: Open WLM without the password, just press the cancel button.
Now the WLM its open, press the send/receive button to see if you have new
messages.
When I do this I receive my e-mails without a single password.
I have 4 windows live mail accounts one from my ISP and another from Gmail
and I receive al the mails when I log in to WLM without a single password.
Anyone can access my 6 email accounts just pressing the cancel button when
start the WLM.

Re: Cancel Button.

Contrary to what a reasonable person might assume, the sign-in prompt
when starting WLM has nothing to do with being able to send and receive
mail or even to get into the WLM program. To find out what this does,
use Help, View Help and search for "Signin".

If you are coming from Outlook Express, where there is the option of an
Identity password that controls opening Outlook Express, that feature
does not exist in WLM, because identities do not exist in WLM. If you
want to block people from getting into your WLM, you need to put a
password on your Windows User logon and then logout of Windows when you
leave the PC.

As for the individual mail account passwords, you've told WLM to store
those for you and provide them to the mail servers when asked. You can
change that in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers.

Re: Cancel Button.

Thanks for your help Michael and Norman.
I came from Incredimal were I can have an ID protected with a password.
All my e-mail accounts are managed by that program (Incredimail).
Now I know that I can’t do the same with WLM.
Thanks to all.
Bizz.

Re: Cancel Button.

If you wish to retain the password prompt.
WLM\Tools\Accounts\<select an email account>\Properties\
Click on the Server Tab
Uncheck Remember Password.
