Font size in message list pane

Hi all,

Have a small problem in that there is very little difference in the message
listing between read and unread. Both appear to be bolded font but read is a
fraction smaller. On another PC in the house there is a huge difference but
not on mine. What setting in display properties sets the font size for that
section in WLM?

RE: Font size in message list pane

I have a related problem: The font size in the message list pane is smaller
then it was in Outlook Express - too small for me to read comfortably. Is
there a way to adjust it?

Also, how do I adjust the font size in the folder pane - it too has been
made difficult to see. The whole interface of WLM is much more difficult to
see, much less ergonomic.

Another example: in the folder pane, clicking on "Mail" or "newsgroups" does
not open that category under the word mail or newsgroups the way it would in
any other windows program - it opens it elsewhere.

Re: Font size in message list pane

Surprisingly, those fonts and font sizes are hard coded. Here's some
food for thought:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...e4a&sloc=en-us
or if msnews is your default news server,

Re: Font size in message list pane

I get the feeling Microsoft wants a similar look and feel throughout its
products, with no regard for ergonomics or its long-sufferieng customers.
This forum, for instace has the same horrible pastel colours as WLM. I for
one find the new colours and fonts very hard to read compared with Standard
Windows XP. It is a retrogrtade step.

Re: Font size in message list pane

I think the WLM GUI is garish. I'll stick to OE and loose
Hotmail access.

Re: Font size in message list pane

Thank you! I changed my DPI and now I can see again. Hallelujah! :-)

I see you are using the inferior web version of this newsgroup,
which is why you are calling it a "forum".
To see this newsgroup the way it was meant to be seen, click on

Re: Font size in message list pane

That's ironic. I copied the link into IE, and guess what - it opened Outlook
Express to view the messages !

No doubt this is because I don't have WLM set to be my default something or
other...

BTW, regarding the previous messgae, can we not just Use Display Properties

Re: Font size in message list pane

You're welcome, and thanks for posting back.
Just remember that this is a system-wide setting, so some things
(other program interfaces, web pages) might look weird, or even
malfunction. Swings and roundabouts.
