can't open video clips

When I recieve attached video clips and try to open them I get a pop up that
says...This file does not have a program associated with it for performing
this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel. Can
anyone give me directions how to do this??

Thankyou for your help...

Re: can't open video clips

Have you a video player installed? If not install MS WMP11. Then all will be
OK.

Re: can't open video clips

See the Identifying Attachment File Types and Setting File Associations
section of
Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial
http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...e.htm#identify

You need to create an OPEN action in the Windows File Associations for
the file type. Model it on the default action which is probably
something like PLAY.

Re: can't open video clips

Might be a security issue that is blocking playing your attachment.
I have Nero installed on my system and use it to play media files. Click on
a mp3, mpeg or avi file anywhere on the system and it opens with Nero Show
Time as I intended. Whenever I receive one of those files as an attachment,
I get the same problem you do. I pretty much gave up trying to figure it out
and simply save the attachment to the desktop (or any handy folder) and play
it from there. This always happens with media files and sometimes with PDF
files. The reason I suspect that it is a security issue is that when I right
click on the detached file and select Properties, there is an option to
'UnBlock' the file.

By detaching the file first, I have a better opportunity to right click on
the file and have it scanned for viruses before executing it.
