Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

Does anyone know how to move email folders from the storage folder to the
default account folder for POP emails? Thanks :-)

Re: Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

I'm fairly sure you can't. There was a discussion some time ago
about it, but the upshot is that you have to create a new folder
upstairs and then transfer the messages to it. That's probably
easiest by Ctrl-A to mark all, Right-click and select Move to
folder. Dragging and dropping can be a bit fraught, especially if
there are a lot of messages.

When you're done, you can just leave the empty folders alone. If you
do delete them you'll probably have to mend your Quick views - see

Re: Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

I started moving folders at 9:00am on Monday and have finally finished and
it is now 2:00am on Tuesday. I sure hope WLM makes this easier in the
future and I really hope that I don't have to do this each year when I like
to do a reformat. Other than that I'm slowly getting to like WLM :-)

Re: Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

There is a third party program that does an excellent job of making
restorable WLM backups:
http://www.staticbackup.com/windows-live-mail-backup/

I have used their 20 day free trial version several times.

Re: Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

Interesting. This looks as if it actually duplicates functionality already
in Windows and WLM, but perhaps makes it more convenient.

Re: Moving Folders in Windows Live Mail

One other question while I remember: when moving messages to the folders, is
there a default setting to see the folders in "collapsed view" instead of
having to scroll through the many sub-folders in the "expanded view"?
Thanks :-)
