Vista Tutorial - Cant recieve emails

i can send emails ,but just cannot recieve emails ,when clicking on send and
recieve it goes thru okay ,but nothing is recieveing ,,there are no fault
messages,,,i know there are emails to arrive because i opened with another
computer using outlook ,,all the setting are correct because i checked them
with bigpond my server,,has anyone good some ideas to help me please ,,before
i smash this stinking filthy machine thru the wall,,,,,how frustrating

If you are getting the messages from another computer, then the messages are
most likely being removed from the server, so they are no longer available
for the Vista computer.
If you wish to access the same email account from more than one computer,
then you will have to configure all computers to leave the email on the
server after downloading.

In Windows Mail
Tools - Accounts - youraccount - Properties - Advanced
[x] Leave a copy of messages on server
[x] Remove from server after [xx] days

Outlook is changed in a similar manner. You only need to set one to remove
after xx
days.
