Logon problems

Just got my computer back from HP repair center and now I cannot logon to
WLM. I checked with my ISP and they verify that everything is configured
correctly but the mail from the webmail will not forward to WLM anymore.
They claim that Vista is the problem. Is there anyway around this? I tried
using WM but the problem is the same. Also, my newsserver says it cannot
connect to the internet via WLM. Please help!!

Re: Logon problems

What does "cannot logon to WLM" mean exactly?
There is no need to login to WLM in order to receive mail.
Do you get an error message? If so, post the complete error message.

Re: Logon problems

When I attempt to get my e-mail, I am asked to logon to my e-mail account in
WLM. The password is continuously rejected and the Error is 0x800CCC90. My
ISP has verified that I have the account configured correctly and cannot
resolve the cause of why the webmail is not being forwarded to my WLM
account. The ISP says it's a Vista problem, but I did not have the problem
on the other Vista computer (which had to be replaced). I don't know what to
do to get my mail through WLM and I hope you can help me.

Re: Logon problems

As I told you in the Windows Mail newsgroup, disabling Norton is often not
sufficient. Uninstall it, then follow up with the special removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039

Then delete your mail account, restart Windows Live Mail, and recreate that
account. If no joy, copy and post the exact error message.

Warning, deleting a mail account in WLM will also delete all of the
associated account folders. So, any mail you want to keep must
first be moved to a folder under Storage folders.

I used the Norton Removal Tool, I re-started the computer, I deleted the
previous account, re-started WLM and opened a new account - I am still
unable to logon as the password is not accepted. Error 0x800CCC90 and Error

Re: Logon problems

That account is from Gmail, not your ISP. Your ISP won't know the
correct settings or your Gmail password.

For how to configure Gmail, see:
Configuring your email client: Outlook Express and Outlook
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...276&topic=1556

Note that you have to enable POP3 on the Gmail end.

Re: Logon problems

Wildblue (satellite server) gave us the gmail configurations when they
switched to gmail. Wildblue and gmail have confirmed that the settings are
correct, but WM nor WLM will download the messages. POP and smtp are
correctly set but the password is rejected. I also am unable to download
newsgroups from my subscribed newsgroup server (message says WM or WLM is
not able to connect to the internet).

Re: Logon problems

How did you resolve the email issue?

Have you tried a different news server?

How did you resolve the e-mail issue?

FWIW, you no more need to log in to Windows Live Mail than you need to log
in to Mozilla Thunderbird. A basic MS Outlook Express setup does not require
a "login", either.

So one has to wonder, how did you fix your problem?

As for the newsgroups...similar to e-mail, but with a different protocol
(NNTP instead of POP3, or IMAP), and different servers (Google does not
provide NNTP service); if Wildblue has outsourced email to Google, perhaps
they have outsourced news to an outfit like, "Giganews"?)
