Another bug

Another Bug in WLM. Its will say I have mail, but it all went to my delete
folder and was marked as read, but the icon in the tray changed to yellow
saying I had mail.

Re: Another bug

What sort of account - POP, HTTP, IMAP? What setting do you have on
the Options tab at [Tools >] Safety Options? Mail arrives and the
tray icon changes colour to tell you, whether it's junk or not. I
haven't tried, but this might also happen even though all that's
arrived is the contents of a Hotmail 'Deleted items' folder, which
would of course go to your local deleted items folder. I wouldn't
call it a bug (yet), but more likely something happening in a way
you're not used to.

Re: Another bug

I have a pop account. All the mail I received that time went to the Delete
Folder, and the icon still went yellow! I had NO new good mail.

Re: Another bug

I can only think of two things which might cause this behaviour,
which I can't remember having heard about before:
(1) You have a message rule - possibly a malfunctioning one,
possibly migrated from OE - that deletes some types of mail on
arrival or moves them to a Deleted items folder. Check at Tools >
Message rules > Mail. If there's nothing there, check whether there
are any subkeys at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live
Mail\Rules\Mail.
(2) you have a faulty installation.
Someone else might have other ideas. The icon will turn yellow
whenever you receive a message (if it was white before, that is).

Re: Another bug

As I understand it, the new mail notification will appear even
when all newly arrived email goes into the Junk E-mail folder or
the Deleted Items folder.
Do you have the following option enabled:
Tools, Safety Options, "Permanently delete suspected junk..."

Re: Another bug

Gary, if it's 'permanently deleted', it wouldn't show up in a
'deleted items' folder, would it?
That's why I think something else is at play here, but I'm out of
ideas.

Re: Another bug

I didn't mean to imply that newly arrived/permanently deleted
junk email would show up in the Deleted Items folder, just that it
might trigger the 'new mail' notification. Anyone know for sure if it does?
