POP3 fetch: a Hotmail Plus feature ?

Hello,

Norman wrote yesterday that you could activate POP3 Account fetching with a
Hotmail Plus account... but he was not totally sure as he doesn't have a Plus
account.

- Can someone here confirm that it works fine ?
- Are there any limitations ?
- Does it also fetch the mails recognized as Spam or Trash by the POP
account, or does it leave them there ?
- Can you put filters as to what you want to fetch ?

Thanks,
Henry

You may want to read this :-

and also this entry :-

Question is though, if you're using WLM, why do you need to access your
hotmail with POP3 rather than the normal HTTP?

Re: POP3 fetch: a Hotmail Plus feature ?

Colin,

I want to have Hotmail automatically fetch mails from my other POP3 accts,
and to put them on the server.
My idea is to fully use the IMAP potential of the Hotmail acct in WLM, and
to see all my mails through that acct.

Re: POP3 fetch: a Hotmail Plus feature ?

Thanks for the info. However, the idea is not to use Outlook to fetch POP mail:
- I just want to configure a Hotmail (Plus) account, so it will by itself
fetch POP mail from other accounts
- and then enjoy opening this Hotmail account in WLM...

ps: I know I can set WLM up to aggregate several IMAP and POP accounts on
the same window (I am working this way now!).
Instead of going to each POP account, and setting there a redirect for the
mail to Hotmail, I would like to know if a Hotmail (Plus) account can be
configured to fetch mail from other accounts (this is a 'pull' situation,
instead of a 'push').
I am asking this because, some POP account interfaces are so poor that you
can't set the redirect function....

Re: POP3 fetch: a Hotmail Plus feature ?

Hotmail Pop retreival in a Hotmail Plus account does not fetch anything automatically. To retrieve pop mail from another account
one has to visit the web interface and manually instruct it to retrieve the external accounts mail.

Re: POP3 fetch: a Hotmail Plus feature ?

It's only a 'pull' if you access the Hotmail Web interface and 'push' the pop button.
Once the pop button is 'pushed' mail will be delivered to the Hotmail Inbox.
It does not happen automatically when a Hotmail Plus account is setup in OE, OL, or WLM regardless of how the account is setup(pop3
or http) or the protocol used(pop3, WebDAV, DeltaSync).

The only route for automatic delivery to a Hotmail account[ in WLM/OE/OL/OL with the Outlook Connector] is for all external
accounts to have the capability and enabled to auto-forward mail to the Hotmail account.
