IMAP & 2 WLM's

1. I recently noticed that my ISP offers POP3 and/or IMAP mail boxes. Are
there any significant advantages in using an IMAP mailbox over a POP3
mailbox.

2. I would like to run two instances of WLM, one for mail the other for
news. I want to separate them so that I can have different settings - eg
I'd like to have different layout for mail and news - and so that I can
TaskSwap between them, rather than ViewSwapping. How would I do that.

Re: IMAP & 2 WLM's

2. Not possible. One interface supports both mail and news. You can use separate shortcuts to open in Mail or News mode.
e.g. (assuming WLM is installed in its default location)
"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" /news

Re: IMAP & 2 WLM's

1) IMAP is designed for one mail account to be accessed from multiple
PCs (and/or mail clients). Mail is managed at the server and each PC
mirrors the server message store.

POP3 doesn't do multiple PC access well, which is why IMAP was created.
With POP3, you can get all messages to download to multiple PCs. But
sent messages normally are only available on the sending PC. And if you
delete messages (e.g. SPAM) on one PC, they don't automatically get
deleted on the other PCs.
