Using a desktop and laptop with Windows Live

I use windows live on my desktop and laptop, and I don't like the fact that
when I read and delete a message on one machine it shows up on the other
machine when I open windows live. Is there a way to not have messages show
up again after they have been deleted on the other machine?

Re: Using a desktop and laptop with Windows Live

Pop3 account?
If so the default setting is to leave messages on server.
Access the email account's properties(Tools/Accounts), the Advanced tab provides 'Delivery' options for message retention(leave)
and deletion(removal) on the remote server.

Re: Using a desktop and laptop with Windows Live

Is this a POP account? POP accounts don't synchronize.
You would have to switch to an IMAP or Hotmail account.

'Leave a copy' is not checked for the default setting.

Stop storing POP3 e-mail messages on an e-mail server

***By default, your e-mail messages are retained on your e-mail server after you download them with Windows Live Mail.****
Storing e-mail messages on an e-mail server is useful if you have limited disk space on your computer or if you need to read e-mail
from more than one computer. However, most e-mail accounts provide you with a limited amount of space on their server. If you have
a POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3. An e-mail protocol used to retrieve e-mail from a remote server over an Internet connection by
e-mail providers such as Gmail.) e-mail account, you can choose not to retain your e-mail messages on the server, ensuring that you
don't run out of space.

Re: Using a desktop and laptop with Windows Live

I didn't realize that WLM had a default of Leave a copy setting.
However, the setting is Leave a copy for 5 days.
Is the 5 days also default?
If you did not set a days limit before, is 5 days set when you install WLM?

OE did not Leave a copy by default.

Re: Using a desktop and laptop with Windows Live

Ron,
Setting up a dummy or valid pop3 account yields:
-Leave a copy of messages on server is checked,
-remove from server after 5 days is not checked(5 is the default days though grayed out since not checked). It also doesn't matter
whether a limit is set prior in another account, 5 is the default on an account creation.
- remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items is checked.

Correct, OE did not leave a copy by default.
