Please help me!
I just accidental deleted (I was in a terrible hurry) the "Microsoft Communities" news account and every time I try to restore the settings on the initial place it's create a secondary folder named "Microsoft Communities (1)", the original folder remaining empty (it's just migrate from a folder to another). I notice that was doing the same things with some news subscription folders too (inside the "Microsoft Communities" folder), before to accidentally delete the "Microsoft Communities" account for good. What is going on? It will fill up my computer with empty folders? What can I do to point default folder for downloading news to the original one? It just become terrible annoying. Thank you in advanced for your help Laurian |

Very unusual. When you removed the Microsoft Communities news account, the relevant folder should have been deleted from the Message Store, but I think that may not have happened, thus causing the addition of '(1)' to the account name when you re-added it later on.
Please go to your Windows Live Mail Message Store*. There you may find that you have a folder called "Microsoft Communities", and another folder called "Microsoft Communities (1)". If so, again remove the Microsoft Communities newsgroup account within Windows Live Mail, then close WLMail, and then delete those folders in your WLMail Message Store that refer to Microsoft Communities. Then repair your Quick views** that will most likely have broken. The Quick views are known to break in the current version of WLMail (12.0.1606) if any folder is deleted within WLMail (in an Account or under Storage folders), if a Feed is deleted, or if one un-subscribes to a Newsgroup (and probably removes an account containing subscribed newsgroups). You can then open WLMail and set up the Microsoft Communities newsgroup account again. Good luck. _ _ _ *To find the location of your Message Store, go to: Tools->Options...->Advanced [tab]->Maintenance->Store Folder (the default location is a hidden folder). **To repair the broken Quick views, delete the registry Value "SearchFolderVersion" under the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. This will cause WLMail to rebuild its Quick view data store when it is next started. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Laurian COADA" <lauriancoada@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:20FF2AC5-26AD-43D7-B28A-9F3C71F502B5@xxxxxx

I apologies for my delay in replying to you. I encountered some problems
with WLM. Didn't solved the problem, unfortunately. Initially I thought everything did go back to normal. Any other suggestions, to point back to default news download folder? Did you remove *all* "Microsoft Communities" accounts in WLMail, and delete *all* "Microsoft Communities" folders in your WLMail Message Store? Please follow my instructions again and make sure you do.
To remove all the "Microsoft Communities..." news accounts, use: Tools->Accounts...'News' [section]->[highlight each "Microsoft Communities" account]->Remove [button]. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Laurian COADA" <lauriancoada@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1D630AA5-24F2-41AF-B696-09DF528096A5@xxxxxx

By the way Laurian, I have been assuming that you have exported the Microsoft Communities account so that you can easily set it back up again. But to be sure, I will give you the steps:
Tools->Accounts...'News' [section]->[highlight "Microsoft Communities" account]->'Export'... [button]. Then, when you are ready to set up the 'Microsoft Communities' newsgroup account again, you can import it by going: Tools->Accounts...'News' [section]->[highlight "Microsoft Communities" account]->'Import...' [button]. Once you have recreated the Microsoft Communities account by importing it, you can make it the default account by going: Tools->Accounts...'News' [section]->[highlight "Microsoft Communities" account]->'Set as Default' [button]. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Peter.R" <Peter.R@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OWGd2bDuIHA.576@xxxxxx

I did done all these things. Nothing worked.
I solved the problem with "Microsoft Communities" (from a previous disk image archive - otherwise was impossible, of course I lost many e-mails messages, received after the disk image creation date). But I just can't solve the problem with some of the other news default folders, inside the "Microsoft Communities". What I'm suspected is that the I have to go empty the content of the "Backup" folder too for everything to go back to normal (after I'll unsubscribe to that news and close the WLM), but of course I don't dare to do that. I think of that due to the fact it's doing some strange things with the "Contacts" too (I had to remove some group contacts to solve the problem - when were recreated the old information's reappeared doesn't matter what I tried). Thank you very much again Peter, for all your support Laurian ------------------------------------------------- "Peter.R" <Peter.R@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:unCp$jDuIHA.1768@xxxxxx

You're welcome Laurian. I'm glad you worked around that problem. Making backup images of your OS to restore to is a good way to go, but as you realise now, a secondary backup method is also needed so you don't lose your latest e-mails, feeds, favourites, and program data, documents etc. after restoring an old OS image. The 'Backup' folder in WLMail's Message Store contains a backup of the database. There is no point deleting it, as it won't affect anything, other than being a problem if the database becomes corrupted. I'm not sure what problems you are having with individual newsgroups, but you could try resetting them (right-click the newsgroup->Properties->Local File [tab]->Reset [button]. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Laurian COADA" <lauriancoada@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:487FA343-C5D2-4D83-A57A-BE1D801AA719@xxxxxx
