Receiving Yahoo Mail

I followed the instructions precisely as noted in previous discussions and I
am still not able to receive e-mail from Yahoo into WLM?

Re: Receiving Yahoo Mail

Do you have a paid Yahoo account or a free one?
US-based free Yahoo accounts don't have POP access.

Re: Receiving Yahoo Mail

Thank you Gary; I have a free account. I am aware of your response on the
free account, but, thought there might be a work around by now.

Re: Receiving Yahoo Mail

I've seen two workarounds mentioned for Windows Mail. You could always
be the one to find out if either of them also work with Windows Live Mail.

Re: Receiving Yahoo Mail

A few years back I used MrPostman to get Hotmail free and Yahoo free into
Thunderbird Portable - might be worth a try.

It's a jar so you have to have Java RTE installed and running - you can pick
it up here - http://mrpostman.sourceforge.net/

A commercial product I looked at, is here

Re: Receiving Yahoo Mail

Thank you Robert! Success! I downloaded ypops. I don't know about sending
out e-mail as another person mentioned, but, it doesn't matter as I can send
it out from WLM. I didn't understand that I had to download the program
ypops in order for it to work; thought I was just to follow the instructions
for setting up the account....duh! I hope this helps others. Thanks again!

RE: Receiving Yahoo Mail

My WLM stopped incoming mail from my Yahoo Plus account. Yahoo live help was
no help. It worked last night but stopped working this morning. I could still
send messages from WLM/Yahoo account but no incoming sync. I've tried
everything.
It stopped working on both my home and laptop so I know it's not me.
Is something up with WLM and Yahoo?

Ypops is a proxy. It provides a POP3 front end to the client (Windows Live
Mail), and a web browser to the server (back end). Yahoo! is constantly
dinking around with their web site, and Ypops will sometimes fail to work;
until the author catches up with the changes. I've never found web-to-POP3
proxies to be terribly reliable.
