Next Folder Button

I can't install the "Next Folder" button on the toolbar that is presented
within a newsgroup message. All other buttons install as they should by
using the Customize toolbar function either by right clicking the toolbar
and choosing "customize" or by using the menu system.

I didn't even know there was a button
for that on *any* toolbar. ; )

I just use Ctrl-j for that function
and never from a message window
--that would just seem too strange.

In fact, I suspect that toolbar button
may be a mistake in the context of a message window.
E.g. notice that there isn't even a Next Folder
command in its View menu?

With all these darn non-suppressible text labels
I wouldn't have room for such inessential buttons
anyway. ; )

Re: Next Folder Button

The button (while selectable and added to the current items dialog box) from a message read in a separate window won't be added to
the toolbar. Which indicates a duplicate of code from another location but not cleaned up.

In a reply message window it is not an option.

It can be a added to the toolbar from WLM's ui.

Re: Next Folder Button

I have already added the button from WLM's ui but it is available as an
option for the message toolbar but it won't install. It is not however
available in a reply window as you state.

This program sure has some strange traits.

Sometimes I just get tired of reading from one newsgroup and want a quick
way out to the next folder that has new messages.

The text labels just about drive me around the bend. Once I recognize what a
button does, I certainly don't need to read what the button does. It would
be far better if just hovering over a button with the mouse would bring up a
bit of help just like it does for the Notification Tray.

Re: Next Folder Button

Ron,
Comparing my notes with Robert's, I'm inclined to believe the option to add it in the message compose window is some future
feature(not sure why though) or imo, wasn't intended since it would serve little value to change newsgroups at that time.

Re: Next Folder Button

This looks like just another example of the GUI boys not
coordinating with the programmers. The View > Next menu in the main
window includes 'Next unread folder', but that menu item doesn't
appear anywhere else that I can find. So even though it shows in the
Customize toolbar dialogue in Message windows- and seemingly
migrates from Available to Current - there is no menu item for it to
relate to. They'll probably fix it in the update if enough people
point it out to them:

Which is exactly what the Next Folder button does on my system - takes me to
the next unread message in the next group (if there are no unread messages
in next group it skips to next one ...).

The button is it should be probably be labeled Next Group rather than Next
Folder. However it would be better implemented as a drop down button
(labeled Navigate), with options for Next Unread in This Group, First Unread
in Next Group etc, and corresponding entries for Previous.
