I like the idea of using WLM for all E-mail accounts (hotmail + local ISP
mail). But I prefer to maintain e-mail messages on my own hard drive instead of my ISP server. I have always accessed hotmail with OE 6 and could move hotmail messages to my hard drive via drop and drag to move it to an Outlook express folder. If I use WLM to access all my mail accounts how do I move the messages to OE folders on my PC? -- Norm Toronto, Canada |

As I understand it you have "storage folders" on WLM and you can create new
ones of these called whatever you like. If you make sure that your storage folders are visible by clicking on view/layout/folder pane and checking 'storage folders' they should appear at the bottom left (below your email folders). If you 'right click' on storage folders you can create a folder called local stored emails (or whatever you choose). You can then drag and drop any emails from your inbox(s) to this folder which is stored locally on your hard drive. Hope this works for you... "Norm" wrote:

That's great. Is there a way that I can control where the messages go on my
hard drive so I can back them up? or How do I find the folder where they are put by the drag and drop? -- Norm Toronto, Canada "Frustrated virgin user" wrote:

I am uncertain whether you can choose 'where' the storage folder is located
and if you find it and try to move it you might mess things up. However it is simple to find the 'storage folders by right click on start then select explore then open 'program files in C:/ then scroll down to windows live. You should find the 'storage folders' in the logs folder (or thereabouts). The best thing is to drag and drop one in first so you know what to expect if you find your way there. Let me know if it works. "Norm" wrote:

Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance, Store Folder tells you where WLM
is storing its data and lets you move it. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Norm" <Norm@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:371F8578-FC31-4C5F-A473-538770737D3E@xxxxxx

There you go Norm. Thanks to Michael we both have the answer. I have just
moved mine into my documents with a new folder call My Mail Store. Perfect...........I think this thread has been really useful. "Michael Santovec" wrote:

Its probably important to note that regardless of the location of WLM's messages store..
a. WLM doesn't handle user 'tweaking' within the message store b. The safest method(without a third party tool)to backup WLM messages is to use WLM's export function. - If interested in a fee-based third party tool GenieBackup(WLM plugin required) a few have reported it appears to handle the task -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Frustrated virgin user" <Frustratedvirginuser@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:8FD00A2E-7398-4DA9-A8BF-1A17D4E373A5@xxxxxx
