WLM and Winxp problem

This is the message I get for Receiving messages in WLM with windowsXP.
Sending works ok. Comcast says the settings are all correct.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Comcast (Ritter197) account. Your
server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this
include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: 'mail.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

This is sometimes an issue with anti virus scanning of email. When email
scanning is active, the AV program has to relay the POP3 transaction between
the server and the client. A whole slew of problems can interfere with that
POP3 transaction, causing either server, or client, to think that the
connection is failing, and to abort that connection.

The advice is to turn off email scanning. It is redundant to the memory
resident AV scanner, which *will* alert if you try to manipulate an infected
file, even if just to save it to the disk. In fact, completely uninstall the
AV program, and reinstall it, selecting "Custom Install" when you do. In the
"Custom" menu, uncheck the email scanning module; don't even allow it to be
installed. I do that on every computer I administer (and none have been
infected by receipt of infected email).
