News replying errors...?!?

Did anyone know why I can't anymore to post topics on Microsoft news servers
or at least that happen with a great difficulty (I'm getting errors all the
time - see bellow sample - I hope this topic will reach the server) or to
reply to users, using WLM?

Error sample:
"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

User@xxxxxxlid"

Thank you very much
Laurian

Re: News replying errors...?!?

When you are replying, be sure that you are using Reply to Group, not Replay
to Sender or Reply to All.

Re: News replying errors...?!?

People use fake email addresses when posting to newsgroups, to keep their
real email address from being harvested by spammers. So don't use "Reply",
which sends email to one person. Use "Reply Group", which posts to the
newsgroup.

Re: News replying errors...?!?

WOW!

Thank you very much to both of you.
I suspected that many users are using fake e-mail addresses, for a reason or
another, but I thought that the message as being posted on the server will
not encounter any problem in terms of being posted, so the e-mail address
it's just used by users to log-in these websites (users which post topics
directly on web and not using WLM or something else like that).

Once again thank you very much for your tips.

Laurian

Re: News replying errors...?!?

Just as you should when posting to a public form to avoid email address harvesting.
<qp>
Address munging
Posting anonymously, or with a fake name and address, is one way to avoid "address harvesting," but users should ensure that the
fake address is not valid. Users who want to receive legitimate email regarding their posts or Web sites can alter their addresses
so humans can figure out but spammers cannot. For instance, joe@xxxxxx might post as joeNOS@xxxxxxlid, or
display his email address as an image instead of text. Address munging, however, can cause legitimate replies to be lost. And if it's
not the user's valid address, it has to be truly invalid, otherwise someone or some server will still get the spam for it.
</qp>

Some additonal info/overview.

Re: News replying errors...?!?

What I've done is to customise the toolbar to remove the Reply button when
I'm looking at newsgroups, that stopped me replying to fake email addresses
and get the messages bounced.
