Vista - typing replaces text-fix

Noticed that typing was replacing text and could not find the
reason or mention in the FAQ on how to fix it.

The fix, open a new message, on the format menu [show all menus
first step] then under Format, select Encoding, Western European
Windows, ISO is the default and the typing replaces text.

Suggest that searching for Help with typing as a keyword should
point to this fix.

Hitting the Insert key turns over-type (typing replaces text) off and on.

In some programs, pressing the Insert key will toggle between over-write
and insert mode.

You may want to insert the name of the program you are fixing.

Unless otherwise stated, it should be assumed that the program
under discussion is the 'raison d'être' for this newsgroup,
