| Guest | Default 'From' Account I found Gary VanderMolen's post on 4/27/08 which explains "(t)he default behavior is that replies will use whatever account downloaded the original message, while a new message uses the 'From' address associated with the currently selected account folder. Both of those defaults can be overridden by using the dropdown in the 'From' box." Fair enough. But is there a way I can get it to ALWAYS default to my main account as the 'From' in NEW messages UNLESS I change it to a different account? I have 9 email accounts config'd in WLM and I often forget to click back on my main email account & / or manually change the 'From' dropdown so I've got emails that should be coming from one account coming from another and so forth. Note that I don't want / need to change the behavior on replies. Thanks for your time & tips!!! -- Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. |

(Although point noted!)And since MS is discontinuing Hotmail / OE compatibility I'll definitely be using WLM from here on out. Ron - Ahh. Not a bad workaround at all! Just tested it out - aok! | Guest | Re: Default 'From' Account "MS has postponed the end of Hotmail/OE compatibility indefinitely." Get out of town!!!!! The last 'note' I got from them was that sometime in June (if memory serves...) they were pulling the plug & they basically said to switch over to WLM or you're SOL if you want to use a client to access email. Was that a nasty little marketing ploy to get people to switch over or what?!?! Oh well. I moved everything over to WLM & killed all my account setups in OE so there's no point in going back now. Guess their tactics worked.... *sigh* Microsoft......... | Guest | Re: Default 'From' Account Gary, It was not, unlike the original notification(Subject: Outlook Express Service Change) distributed via email to WebDAV and other account users. I received the original email notice in all http accounts and both legacy pop3 msn.com accounts. Lori, There were other options either via subscription(Hotmail Plus using Pop3 settings), MSn Explorer(at the time of the original notice) no mention of a need to switch from MSn Ex to WLM which may indicate some type of upgrade is necessary or on the horizon, and for those with Outlook 03 or 07 via using the current or future available Outlook Connector. For free accounts that were grandfathered in 2004(as yours must be) switching to WLM instead of any other option may still prove to be a good decision/requirement since WebDAV may still disappear at some 'announced' time in the future. ...winston ms-mvp mail "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote Quote: > There is a rather lame announcement from Microsoft here: > http://emailsupport.spaces.live.com/...708!5745.entry > I don't think it has received wide distribution. > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP Quote: > "Lori" <Lori@xxxxxx> wrote Quote: >> "MS has postponed the end of Hotmail/OE compatibility indefinitely." >> Get out of town!!!!!
