| | Vista - Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails |

| | Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails On 15 May I posted about a problem with using WLM to send "photo emails" via the virgin net server. I have since had a lot of emails back and forth to MSN support. They have suggested (eventually) that it might be down to DetaSync which is the protocol which is replacing Web Dev and have passd the issue to the DeltaSync team for investigation. Now I have a question to see if others support the theory that virgin net is catching "photo emails" and kicking them out as spam or virus. Are there any others who use virgin as their ISP that are having the same problem OR are there any virgin.net users who have managed to send "photo emails" to or from a virgin.net email address? |

| | Re: Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails I've never seen this problem and I am not a Virgin user. Have you tried sending photo emails through a different SMTP server? | | Re: Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails Virgin are my ISProviders and I have email accounts that end @virgin.net. I only have a problem with "photo emails" if I try to send from my virgin email accounts. If I send from my hotmail account it is of course http and therefore doesn't go through the virgin smtp server so causes no problems (unless I send it to my @virgin.net email address as a test. That is the reason for asking if any other readers with virgin.net email accounts have had the same problem. It is not just this pc but two other pc's with virgin as their ISP so the problem doesn't lie with the pc. In any case I don't know how to "send through another smtp server" without a different ISP or an email account from a different provider (to get one I think I would have to subscribe to them as my ISP) which I don't want to do. In any case it would still mean I couldn't send photo emails to anyone with a virgin.net email address unless someone using virgin tells me otherwise!! | | Re: Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails With respect to sending through a different SMTP server, you can do the following: Get a free account with Gmail: http://gmail.com Then, configure that account for POP access: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...n&answer=13273 Then, add that account to your Windows Live Mail: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=86383 That will give you a separate POP/SMTP account (receive and send). You could ignore its receiving capability and just use Gmail's send feature. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Frustrated virgin user" <Frustratedvirginuser@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1AEDD1B1-6165-4E2C-9D16-36E370C8C511@xxxxxx Quote: > Virgin are my ISProviders and I have email accounts that end @virgin.net. | | Re: Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails Thank you for taking the trouble to reply Gary. I am a little unclear as to what exactly the end result of getting a Gmail account would be!!? Are you saying that I could continue to send emails using my xxxx.xxxx@xxxxxx address (but via the Gmail smtp server) or would it entail having a "new" email address. If the latter was the case and I disabled the receive option would I not risk failing to receive if someone clicked on "reply"? | | Re: Windows Live Mail Photo E-Mails You can use any return address with a Gmail account as long as you first register it with Gmail: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_...gle_gmail.html -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Frustrated virgin user" <Frustratedvirginuser@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:681BEFBE-C7EA-4A02-B233-87B56067C962@xxxxxx Quote: > Thank you for taking the trouble to reply Gary. > I am a little unclear as to what exactly the end result of getting a Gmail > account would be!!? > Are you saying that I could continue to send emails using my > xxxx.xxxx@xxxxxx address (but via the Gmail smtp server) or would it > entail having a "new" email address.
