| Guest | RE: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - HELP Meshal: As of today, June 11, 2008 I am also having problems with my WLM. I can view my messages in Hotmail, but obviously want to view them in WLM. In WLM, I can send emails, but can see only the header of my incoming messages. When I click on the email, I get the same error message you do inviting me to view my Hotmail elsewhere and to contact support services. I have done a ticket, but got a generic reply and then my ticket was closed. Nothing was done to help me. I am very frustrated. I provided a log as requested, installed and uninstalled WLM until I am exhausted. I have added my account after installing WLM, etc. Still nothing. I see this problem on the internet as well as in this group. Others have this same problem, but there appears to be no solution. I have contacted my ISP and Dell and they all point the finger back at Microsoft for an answer. Obviously my account is configured correctly because until the day this stopped working I was getting my messages just fine. June 1st yes, June 2nd no. That is just so odd. The responses I get after supplying copious data to Microsoft are "canned" and do not offer any solution. Does anyone know, "Is this a problem that is truly going to be solved and if so, when?" This is discouraging when one views that some of these posts regarding this situation/problem date back to 2007 about this issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am using Windows XP with the #3 pack installed. I am totally up to date on all updates. I run Windows Defender, AVG, Spybot, CCleaner and regularly defrag and clean my disk. I have Wild Blue for my ISP and I am using a Dell 2400. Thanks, Karen "Meshal" wrote:

FWIW I don't have a Hotmail account configured in WLMail but in the interests in getting a better symptom description from you, are these "headers" indicated as such (e.g. in the same way that news messages need to be downloaded in two phases)?
Might be useful to know what "copious data" entails? E.g. were you asked to do Fiddler traces? Also, what is the nature of the "canned" responses? E.g. admitting that there is a problem on the server (in which case you may just have to wait for the server to be fixed) or suggesting workarounds which could somehow avoid the problem? FWIW one workaround for what may be a related problem that I have read about is using an option to read all messages in plain text... HTH Robert Aldwinckle ---

| Guest | Re: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - HELP Karen, I used to get this problem all the time, I now get it occasionally, 2-3 a month maybe but always easily recoverable If/when I get it happens I do following 1. I change my layout to not have a message pane. 2. I double click the message to get it to load into a message window, usually it does - problem resolved 3. If 2 doesn't work and I don't need to process the message now, I process other mail, browse RSS messages, browse newsgroups. Likely as not when I come back to the mail message it loads OK. 4. If I do want to process the recalcitrant message now, I do it in Windows Live Hotmail, eventually the message will load OK and any response will synch down Since the incidence of the problem reduced this procedure has always worked These are the things I've done that may have helped reduce the incidence of the problem 1. Move my Mail Store to another location - d:\application data\mail store 2. Get my email accounts and folders and the Mail Store directory hierarchy into alignment 3. Don't leave stuff in standard folders for longer than necessary - move to Storage Folders ASAP. 4. I try to empty all standard folders in each of my five accounts at least once a day. 5. I've thought about automating, but for the time being I use the IABDFI approach I can't say that anyone of those things by itself or in combination with other is what reduced the incidence of the problem, all I know is that it is now a rare incidents - that goes away, whereas it used to be a frequent issue that I'd fix by brute force Re your negative experience with MS support. 1. A very widely used KPI for support teams is average ticket duration. 2. What else can a person who does not understand the problem do but reach for the boilerplates. 3. Support staff rarely use the products they support within their LOB application 4. Support staff will often not have access to the products they are supporting. 5. I would only ever lodge a support ticket with MS, and many other s/w vendors, if they paid me to do so I'm on XP/Home SP3, Comodo Firewall, CAVS3 antivirus, Defender, Spybot, Adwatch and BOClean shields running on a TUT Souper Douper. -- TUT WLMail (was WLM Deskop), Windows Live Hotmail (WLH) (was Windows Live Mail) Windows Live Messenger (WLM) (not to be confused with Windows Messenger (vanilla) -------------------------------------------------- "Karenor" <Karenor@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:7601F99F-A42A-4EB0-B611-A45681ED0228@xxxxxx

| Newbie | Re: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - the solution I found the solution for the problem, every one here is searching for a software he can use to open his Hotmail on it instead of going to webpage and to be safe plus if he have any official mail, and windows live mail is giving this to us, but since the problem began even Microsoft don't have a solution for it I send to them a lot of time a I got one answer for one time one we will work on it, I think the Microsoft office Outlook 2007 is the solution now for all of as, I tried it and it's work very good, and as safe as windows live mail, and it's also a product of Microsoft products, |

| Guest | Re: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - HELP Purchasing and installing Outlook 2007 is a solution for a Hotmail problem ? Outlook 2007 does not by design support all http email accounts. Try including part of the prior response(the actual problem the solution addresses)when making a recommendation. | Newbie | Re: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - HELP Hi Winston Now and because of the less information that you get, and less knowledge Outlook 2007 is supporting the Hotmail and msn and live mails accounts by downloading to it free support Microsoft software (Microsoft office Outlook Connector), and i think that the most of people need to use their mails for work don’t have to purchase the office because they get it. And even now I tried to make it work on Outlook 2003 and it works too. Try including part of the prior response when you replay. |

| Guest | Re: Windows Live Mail - Hotmail Problem - HELP While many have access to Office via a work environment, it is not always acceptable to install additional software(OLC) on work computers without permission. Doing so without permission may have other consequences impacting one's employment. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "ahmadein" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:ffc6a8c705b91a5a9c2735e3ec1f5c69@xxxxxx-gateway.com...

It's hard to figure out if you are being "cute" or just don't understand what happens... ; ) The cause of the problem is top posters who use a signature at the bottom of their appends, thus causing you and anybody else who uses a standard newsreader to delete any accumulated threading that was left below it. Does your newsreader give you the option of ignoring signatures left in the middle of posts? <eg> HTH Robert Aldwinckle ---
