unable to receive and send mail through pop3 server

unable to receive and send mail through pop3 server

Hi guys I have a problem with windows live mail when trying to send and
receive mail from my pop3 server.
Yet I can send and recive mail from hotmail.
This happens from 1 day to a week apart, no consistancy in when it happens.
Have tried disabling my anti virus software but that makes no difference.
Have tried shutting windows live mail and starting it again ,no difference
Tried disconnecting and rebooting the modem and still no difference.
also tried deleting my account and making it up again.
The only thing that corrects the problem is to reboot the computer.

It comes up with an error message as follows

<Unable to send or receive messages for the Optusnet.com (waynehere) account.
< A time-out occurred while communicating with the server.

<Server: 'mail.optusnet.com.au'
<Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC19
<Protocol: POP3
<Port: 110
<Secure(SSL): No

Anybody got some suggestions.

Also is there an update for windows live mail.
My version is 2008 (build 12.0.1606)

Hi, Wayne.

I can't answer your more technical questions and I've never used Hotmail.
But, yes, you have the latest build of WLM: 12.0.1606. This was the final
build which "went gold" in November 2007. There have been no updates to it
since then.

Are you virus scanning out-going emails?
Sometimes that cause enough delay to cause a timeout.

Did the pop3 account previously function in WLM ?
Using the full username@xxxxxx in the 'Email Username' field ?
Antivirus email scanning incoming/outgoing disabled ?

Fyi...0x800CCC19 IXP_E_TIMEOUT Not available
