Back to OE until WLM Improves

The Windows Live Team email I received today announced that Outlook Express
will continue to work with Hotmail past the previously announced June 30
deadline. The DAV protocol will not be discontinued after all, at least not
then.

I'll be switching back to Outlook Express until Microsoft replaces the
missing features that Outlook Express provided and fix those new features
that either work half the time or not at all for most of us.

Windows Live Mail was too much like trying out Beta software that has not
had all the features added and the rough edges knocked off. The lack of
support for the visually impaired when dealing with the font issue is enough
to place this software back in the Beta category let alone the "new"
features that fail to work properly if at all.

Hopefully they will actually listen to those who provide suggestions on
improvements to the program in this newsgroup but based on past experience
I'm not going to hold my breath. But then again they did decide to extend
the DAV protocol for an unannounced length of time...

Re: Back to OE until WLM Improves

Don't suppose there is any chance of OE being offered with Vista?

Re: Back to OE until WLM Improves

You must have missed the discussion in this forum(May 5th).
A link to the official announcement is available in the More Information section.
http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!222.entry

Its also important to clarify that OE continues to work only with existing free-grandfathered accounts or premium accounts.
New free accounts continue to require WLM or Outlook via the Outlook Connector for local clients. All accounts free and premium can
be accessed using the Web interface(mail.live.com/hotmail.com).

Re: Back to OE until WLM Improves

that would sure be nice but I doubt it. The closest thing to OE on vista is
Thunderbird. It however does not handle signatures as nice as OE so I don’t
use it anymore. WLM is working ok for me so far

Re: Back to OE until WLM Improves

OK, the likelihood of OE ever being offered on Vista is about
0.00000000000000000001 %
