Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

Is there any web page where I can find the Windows Live Mail screen page section names? For instance, name of the left
section of the page, name of the section where the email content is viewed, and where the headers are listed, etc., etc.
Appreciate help and suggestions.

Re: Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

You can see the names under View, Layout...
In the order you listed them, it would be: Folder pane, Reading pane
(formerly preview pane), and Message list pane.

Re: Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

I don't think so - different bits of the team writing the program
use different names for them. Common usage seems to be
that in [View >] Layout: Folder pane - Message list - Reading pane.
The rest are windows - Contacts window, Compose window etc.

Re: Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

The left is the 'Folder Pane, the center the Message List, the far right(or bottom) which can display limited header content is the
Reading Pane.

Each has a few available configurable options via WLM's menu - View\Layout

Re: Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

Seems like three distinct panes of WLM are

1. Folder pane
2. Header pane
3. Body pane

In the Outlook Express, the left pane was named 'Folders' , but WLM does not show it at all or I am
missing it totally.

Re: Help - Windows Live Mail screen page section names

The compact view of the folder pane only shows icons.
The folder pane is always visible.
View, Layout, Folder pane, uncheck Use compact view.

The pane is defined by the lower left icons, either vertically or
horizontally. Actually I was looking for a word rather than the
icon pictures for definitions as shown in Outlook Express.
Un-checking the compact view, or clicking on 'Expand shortcuts',
only makes the icon group vertical or horizontal, does not show
any definitions. I wish the defining icons should have been at
the top of the folder pane, rather than at the bottom. Thanks.

Yes, the picture defines the views, but sorry, I was not looking
at the pictures to get the definitions. Anyhow, learned
something new. Thanks.

Funny you should say that. They used to be at the top (in the beta
versions), and were only moved because so many people apparently
asked for them to be put somewhere else. "You can please some of the
people..."
