| | Outlook junk vs live mail/junk When i used outlook express, it would catch all my junk mail, now that i have switched to this, i get junk mail in my inbox (hotmail). I have the safety set to high. Is there something i can do so that i can have it like the way before? Thanks |

| | Re: Outlook junk vs live mail/junk You can right click message headers and use the "Junk e-mail" menu item to train the program what to do with them. | | Re: Outlook junk vs live mail/junk I used outlook to check my hotmail..So i guess hotmail would catch all the spam and put it into the junk box..But now that i switched over to live mail, its not catching all the spam it used to..any ideas? | | Re: Outlook junk vs live mail/junk Windows Live Mail, which you can download without extra cost, does not have and isn't likely to get all the features of Outlook, which comes as part of some but not all versions of the extra-cost Microsoft Office software package. One is not the other; each is a separate program. Make up your mind: Did you used to use MS Outlook Express (free component of MS Internet Explorer 6)? Or did you used to use MS Outlook (included in the paid MS Office suite, or available, for a price, in a retail box)? As for trapping spam, MS Outlook Express does not, but Windows Live Hotmail does. Whatever settings were configured on the web server should be as applicable for Windows Live Mail as for MS Outlook Express. Probably just a coincidence that some spam is getting past the Hotmail filters just as you changed from using one client to using the other. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| | Re: Outlook junk vs live mail/junk Barring the uncertainty surrounding use of Outlook or Outlook Express as mentioned in two separate posts and the subject.. OE does not have a local junk filter, prior to delivery it relies on the web based Hotmail Junk filter to deliver what it deems as 'junk to the Junk folder, the balance, unless rules within the web client are established are delivered to the Inbox. Outlook's Junk Mail filter, unlike OE, works on all accounts in the same Outlook user profile(Exchange Server, Http[Hotmail], Pop3, Imap, Outlook Connector for MSN[hotmail/msn/live.com], and Outlook Connector for IBM[Lotus Domino]). In the case of your Hotmail account, the web filter takes precedent until delivery to Outlook, once delivered, OL's Junk Filter then takes it turn. - This peculiarity(feature) may be most noticeable[if the Hotmail account is the default and only account or after a send/receive when the Hotmail inbox is opened] where messages not previously meeting the web filter criteria but unacceptable to Outlook are subsequently moved to the Hotmail Junk folder(Note: you may or may not get a chance to click on one and read it in the OL preview pane). Which email client are you using ? OE or OL ? -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "McManGQ" <McManGQ@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:162CF3FD-B3FA-4FDE-A2EE-C8D1114102B2@xxxxxx Quote: > When i used outlook express, it would catch all my junk mail, now that i have > switched to this, i get junk mail in my inbox (hotmail).
