Bugs i have found so far...

I am using version 12.0.1606, dutch version

(1)
right click on 'quick views' -> 'select quick views'.
Gives a list of options, two options are placed in the area-space of one
option.
So if you scroll over one option, the other one suddenly appears in the
place. So you can't click on "view all send items"

(2)
All of the marked item e-mails and mails in the sent item folders in quick
view suddenly dissapear for no apparant reason.... This is fixed by deleting
a regedit-value (<- seriously!).

(3)
I am using 1.5ghz 1gb ram Windows XP Sp2. And Windows Live mail gets my pc
on it's knees by simply receiving mails... 100% cpu, 100% disk usage...
..... even when it is NOT receiving mails... it uses a lot of cpu and disk
usage, for no apparant reason.

(4)
If a mail is send, the mail itself is closed after like 10 seconds.... 100%
cpu and 100% diskusage.... even if the mail is only like 3 words.

(5)
Sometimes it indicates a new mail has been received... while it hasn't at all!

(6)
Integration with windows desktop search doesn't work at all. No emails can
be found EVER. And i tried a reinstall of windows desktop search, and tried
two versions... it simply doesn't work.

(7)
The search function in windows live mail absolutely lacks functionality, i
seriously doubt if someone can find an email with this single search-box. Why
not bring back the old nice Outlook express search-option? And plz don't ever
integrate windows desktop search again to search for emails. One program for
the job.

(8)
Even after rebuilding the internal database (deleting the obscure
regedit-key), the marked items count is displayed wrong. It says 19, while
the folder obviously contains only 13 messages....

(9)
I had the joy of having '-1' unread messages.... Why even use a signed
integer for this value???? (explanation, you can't have -1 unread messages,
it always says =>0 unread messages). But i have made a screenshot and had a
good laugh.

(10)
I try to place my "outgoing mail"-folder higher in the list.... but after
every restart the folder is placed on the bottom again...

I probably forgot something, but this is the list i encountered....
So my question is... when will there be a new version of Windows Live mail?

Re: Bugs i have found so far...

Most of the bugs you mentioned have been well -publicized here over the
past six months.

It is rumored that a new version of WLM will be released late summer or
early fall.

Re: Bugs i have found so far...

Thank you for your reply.
I know some of these bugs have been publicized already, but i still wasn't
able to get a full list somewhere

But let's hope the update fixes them all (especially the search feature
kinda bothers me).

Re: Bugs i have found so far...

I seem to spend a lot of my time defending WLMail - but then, there
are a lot of attacks on the program which often result from
circumstances which have nothing to do with the program itself. I've
put in a few comments inline...

The problem with Quick views is well documented and we are assured
that it has been fixed for the next release, as Gary says in the
late Summer/early Autumn.

This is a problem that a few people have encountered. It is almost
certainly not a problem with WLMail, but rather with something
unusual in your hardware or software configuration. The obvious
candidate is an over-zealous AV application, but it could be lots of
other things.

As above. It's uncommon.

If you're referring to the change in colour of the tray icon and an
audible message, if your installation is set up to give one, then
the only reports I've seen about this refer to notification of all
new messages, including junk. It may be that a new release will
suppress notification if the only new message received is classified
as junk.

There is no 'integration' with WDS. Help tells you that the Find a
message function will only find a search string in the *body* of a
message if WDS is installed. Otherwise, it will only find strings in
the headers. That is a long way from 'integration'; it means only
that WLMail has access to the WDS index. Does "No emails can be
found EVER" mean that if you search in WDS for a string that you
know exists in an email, it isn't found? If so, your Store folder is
not being indexed. On some installations, it seems that WDS cannot
index the Store folder in its default location. If it is moved, for
example to the Documents folder, then it gets indexed. I have been
trying to find out what causes this, so far without result.

See above. You do have the nice old OE search option at Edit > Find
(Ctrl-Shift-F). Otherwise, see my comments under (6).

You broke your Quick views again.

Ditto.

That's just the way it is. If you don't like it, Help menu > Send
Feedback (web).
