Downloading WLMail Desktop on a Slower Connection

Hello There,

It has been a long time (about 7-8 years) since I have been using Outlook
Express for hotmail email accounts.

A few days earlier I received an email from Microsoft that they are
disabling the DAV protocal (a protocal that lets the Outlook Express
download my emails from hotmail account) by June 30th, 2008. Vide said email
MS recomends me to use WL Mail Desktop for said purpose.

So I tried to download the WL Mail, from MS-Live website, but instead of
direct download, I got a WL-Installer to download WL-Mail. Now I have been
trying for morethan a week to download WL-Mail through this WL-Installer,
but even after hours of trying it keeps saying: "It is taking longer than
expected, please bear with us just a few more minutes".

I have a 56K dial-up connection and maximum downloading speed is 5-6 KB/s.

Now I wonder how can I download WL-Mail and get use to it (slowly) before
I'll be forced by June 30th, 2008.

Is there any kind of help, you guys can provide, I think the best help would
be (if possible) to provide a direct download link to the latest version of
WL-Mail Desktop.

Regards,
Fahid Shehzad

Relax, that deadline has been postponed indefinitely.

Re: Downloading WLMail Desktop on a Slower Connection

As Gary said, the death of DAV has been delayed.

Hotmail changes for DAV
http://emailsupport.spaces.live.com/...708!5745.entry
http://emailsupport.spaces.live.com/...708!5359.entry

Assuming that you still want to install Windows Live Mail are you
getting to this page to download the installer?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

If you download the installer from there, select the option to SAVE
rather than RUN. Once the installer has downloaded, then close all
other programs, including IE, double click the downloaded file to run.

If you still have problems running the installer, try Clearing the IE
Temporary Internet Files (TIF). In IE: Tools, Internet Options,
General, TIF Delete Files. Be sure to check the Delete All Offline
Content in the pop-up.
