Windows Live Installation question

OK, I downloaded the Windows Live Mail program WLinstaller.exe from
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview
I thought that I would be creating an desktop program by clicking on the
program but instead it directed me
to a webpage called Windows Live Home at http://home.live.com/ where I could
sign in to my Hotmail account.

How do I go about geting the program on my desktop like Outlook Express
which I currently use?

RE: Windows Live Installation question

Patrick I can't answer your question because I just followed all the
instructions and got it on my desktop. The problem I have is that now I have
Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail (the old outlook express mail)both. when
I'm in one it works downloading mail and when I'm in the other it downloads
mail, so now I have some mail in one and some in the other. My problem is
(and you'll have the same problem) how do I turn off the old windows Mail and
have outlook express work only with Windos Live Mail?

Re: Windows Live Installation question

Gary, thanks for trying to help me and I'm sorry that it created a problem
for you. Maybe by not using the old windows Mail, O.E., and only using the
new desktop program Windows Live Mail everything will be directed to Windows
Live Mail.

Re: Windows Live Installation question

In Windows Mail, go to the account setup and uncheck 'Include this account
when sending and receiving'.

Re: Windows Live Installation question

Hi Patrick

When you close the installer, http://home.live.com/ is automatically opened. At what stage of the installation were you re-directed to http://home.live.com/ ?

Did you check the box within the installer to install Windows Live Mail? If so, it should have installed and then allowed you to actually 'start' Windows Live Mail from within the installer, but there will also be a shortcut on the Desktop.

If you run the installer again, it will tell you whether Windows Live Mail has been installed.
