My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

Okay, I got a really really bad problem!

I just formatted my computer and when I was done with everything I went to
messenger.msn.se (i'm swedish!) and chose "get live". Everything is fine, it
downloaded messenger, sign-in ass and mail, it installed messenger, sign-in
ass and when the mail was about 50-60% installed my computer rebooted (I got
a fan-error, my comp get overheated).

Now when I try to install mail again it says that I allready have it on my
computer which I don't! When I try to uninstall mail from "Add remove
programs" it asks for a *.msi-file (it's like Install_{ALOT of numbers}.msi).

I can install the english version of mail but I want the swedish one, please
help me, I've tried everything!

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

try ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com to clean the registry for installer errors first. If that does not work, you can also remove Live Mail from the add/remove programs list using Ccleaner. Only do the second if you have to.

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

I scanned the registery and repaired all the error and it didnt work. Then I
tried to delete the post from Add/Remove program and that didnt work either,
it said something like "Could not remove MSI..".

The MSI files i need to uninstall Windows Live Mail from Add/Remove is
"Install_{7664A2EF-34F5-42D2-8FD8-4FEF0047A929}.msi"

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

In XP, the English msi is downloaded to C:\Program Files\Common
Files\WindowsLiveInstaller\MsiSources.

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

The WindowsLiveInstaller folder is hidden. Do you folder settings allow
viewing of hidden files?

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

Okay let's leave this thing Ron, you don't get me. The MSI file doesnt exist,
i'm not a newbie in the computerworld and I know about hidden folder etc,
it's allowed to show hidden files/folders.

The problem is the msi live mail want to uninstall is poff gone from my
computer...

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in the thread before, but you may
want to correct the overheating reboot problem before proceeding. Perhaps
you can install an additional case cooling fan or blow the dust out of the
case.

Cheers,

Earle

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

I second that notion. The OP may want to open the case and
make sure the CPU fan is spinning, and the heatsink is still
securely attached to the CPU.

Re: My computer rebooted in the middle of Live Mail installation.

I'm going to, it's just need some ArcticSilver 5 between the CPU and the fan!
No biggie, I just havent gotten around buying it!

But that's not the problem now
