Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo (abcd1234) account. An
incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages,
you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR invalid user/password
Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110

Re: cant login to yahoo id.

Do you have a paid Yahoo account (Mail Plus)? If not, I don't think
you'll be able to use POP3/SMTP with a yahoo.com account. If you
sign into your account on the web and select Options > Mail options

I use FreePOPs ( http://freepops.org/en/ ) to download mail from my
yahoo.com account.

As Ildhund has posted, you need a paid Yahoo! Mail Plus account to access
'pop.mail.yahoo.com'. In addition, Yahoo! has made some changes; and you
should not be using port 110 now. Yahoo! wants all users to log in using a
secure protocol. For 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', that means configuring your
client to use port 995 with SSL. For 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', that means
configuring your client to use port 465 with SSL.

Re: cant login to yahoo id.

According to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ca/yahoo/mail/pop/pop-03.html
your port numbers and SSL options are not correct.

And more: I have email in the 'yahoo.co.jp' and 'yahoo.com.au' domains.
However, the OP specifically mentioned '[pop|smtp].mail.yahoo.com'. Those
servers only apply to 'yahoo.com' email accounts (though they actually work
with my 'pacbell.net' email account; but I am supposed to use
'[pop|smtp].att.yahoo.com' for my email with 'pacbell.net').
Quote:

> my settings for yahoo mail in wlmd
> yahoo mail.ca free account settings
For both my 'yahoo.co.jp' and my 'yahoo.com.au' accounts, I had to first
sign up for, "Yahoo! Delivers". I used to do this with my 'yahoo.com'
account; until Yahoo! stopped offering free POP3/SMTP service to 'yahoo.com'
account holders. Then I had to go to the POP3 and Mail Forwarding section of
the online account Mail Options to set up the POP3/SMTP access.

I would point out that your port numbers are not correct for 'yahoo.com',
'yahoo.co.jp', or 'yahoo.com.au' accounts. Considering that, as always,
'yahoo.co.jp' was the last to change, I'd be surprised if 'yahoo.ca' didn't
require the new ports.

On the Servers tab:

Incoming email servers: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp'/'pop.mail.yahoo.com.au'
Outgoing email servers: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp'/'pop.mail.yahoo.com.au'

For the outgoing server select, "My server requires authentication".

On the Advanced tab:

Incoming email port: 995
Outgoing email port: 465

For both ports select, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".

I use those settings for all the Yahoo! Mail servers I can access:

pop.att.yahoo.com:995 w/SSL
pop.mail.yahoo.com:995 w/SSL
pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp:995 w/SSL
pop.mail.yahoo.com.au: 995 w/SSL

smtp.att.yahoo.com:465 w/SSL
smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465 w/SSL
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp:465 w/SSL
smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au:465 w/SSL

FWIW, at&t Yahoo! HSI subscribers (using '[pop|smtp].att.yahoo.com') have
reported receiving email about using "unsecure" servers when they failed to
update their server information to the proper server names and ports. The
old names had the email domain in place of the 'att' in the server names,
and used port 110 for incoming and port 25 for outgoing.
