| | Place picture in attachment Any picture I send with an e-mail takes place in the message (somewhere between the text), I can't move the picture to the enclosure/appendix/attachment. Does anyone know the picture can be removed from the message, but not from the e-mail? Is it possible? |

| | Re: Place picture in attachment I presume that you are composing in HTML format. If you want a picture to just be attached and not embedded in the text, use Insert, File as Attachment, NOT Insert, Picture. The Insert, Picture is specifically to embed the picture in the middle of the text. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Cor K" <CorK@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:212D16AE-7BDF-4B3A-AB28-39A4088365C9@xxxxxx Quote: > Any picture I send with an e-mail takes place in the message > (somewhere > between the text), I can't move the picture to the > enclosure/appendix/attachment. > > Does anyone know the picture can be removed from the message, but not > from > the e-mail? | | Re: Place picture in attachment There are three options: - File as Attachment - Picture --> photomessage - Picture --> Inline There is some differnce between the last two, but not between the first. When I add a picture it always will be embedded in the text. the problem seems to be unusual, should I reïnstall the software? And yes, I am using HTML (Rich text) "Michael Santovec" wrote: Quote: > I presume that you are composing in HTML format. > > If you want a picture to just be attached and not embedded in the text, > use Insert, File as Attachment, NOT Insert, Picture. | | Re: Place picture in attachment So you are saying that if you select Insert, File as Attachment and select a picture type file (e.g. JPG, GIF), in the Message Composition window you see the picture displayed in the message text and NOT just the file name listed in the attachment line of header? Or are you saying that the recipient is seeing the picture automatically displayed at the bottom of the message or that you are seeing the image displayed at the bottom of the message in the Sent Items folder? By default, WLM displays any image attachments (JPG, GIF, BMP) at the bottom of the message text. This is a display only (not a duplicate attachment) and only affects what you see on your PC, not what the recipient sees. Whether the recipients also automatically see the image is dependent on their mail program and its settings. To change whether or not you automatically see the images on your PC, you can edit the registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail] "Automatically Inline Images"=dword:00000000 A value of 0 disables display of images at the bottom of the message text. Not having the key or setting it to 1 enables display. Note: When Tools, Options, Read, Read All Message In Plain Text is selected, that also stops the display of images. (For a quick workaround for the current message, press ALT+Shift+H) -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Cor K" <CorK@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:A2DEAEE5-D751-49D2-B485-70818473120A@xxxxxx Quote: > There are three options: > - File as Attachment > - Picture --> photomessage > - Picture --> Inline > > There is some differnce between the last two, but not between the > first. > When I add a picture it always will be embedded in the text. > > the problem seems to be unusual, should I reïnstall the software? > > And yes, I am using HTML (Rich text) > > > > "Michael Santovec" wrote: > Quote: >> I presume that you are composing in HTML format. >> >> If you want a picture to just be attached and not embedded in the >> text, >> use Insert, File as Attachment, NOT Insert, Picture. | | Re: Place picture in attachment Actually, it's the first option. I select Insert, File as Attachment, but still (Checked on desktop version and online version) the picture presents in the text. The e-mail contains, from up to down: - a bar with "play slideshow", "download all pictures", etc. - message - picture - a bar with "download Windows Live Mail, if you want to make photomessages by yourself" At hotmail.com the attachment is in the attachment bar At desktop the attachment is only in the e-mail. __ I've tried to find the "Automatically Inline Images" in the register, but it wasn't there, somehow. | | Re: Place picture in attachment I'm a bit confused by your response. You say "Actually, it's the first option. I select Insert, File as Attachment, but still (Checked on desktop version and online version) the picture presents in the text.". The first option I mentioned was that you are seeing the picture displayed with the text in the MESSAGE COMPOSITION window while COMPOSING the message in WLM. But your description sounds more like you are seeing the picture displayed in the received message or the Sent Items version. If you are just seeing the image in the latter cases, then what you are seeing is Normal. Everything is working as intended. You have no control over what a recipient's mail program is going to do with attachments. And I have no idea if there are any options in the Hotmail web site as to what it does with attachments. You do have some control over how your WLM displays attachments to you. The "Automatically Inline Images" isn't there by default in WLM. You have to add it. One way to do that is to take the following 3 lines and paste into Notepad: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail] "Automatically Inline Images"=dword:00000000 Then save as a .REG file (e.g. inlineimages.reg) and double click the saved REG file. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Cor K" <CorK@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:E16A881D-1FEE-41D9-B907-91900B37F380@xxxxxx Quote: > Actually, it's the first option. | | Re: Place picture in attachment What I'm trying to clarify is are you seeing the issue BEFORE or AFTER SENDING the message? If you are seeing the issue BEFORE sending, that doesn't sound right, and seeing the screen shots may clarify the issue. If you are seeing the issue AFTER sending, that's Normal and the way it is intended to work. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Cor K" <CorK@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:E3DF09A3-887A-412D-857B-A6BBF3C186D1@xxxxxx Quote: > I don't know how I should explain it. As soon as you complete the Insert, File as Attachment, does it add a paperclip box under the Subject with name of the file you just attached? If not, repeat, but insert a Word DOC file instead.
